Blog Series - Curves around the World - Curvy Plus size Outfits - WEEK #10 MONOCHROME

So, you may have guessed by the blog title. This week the theme this week is monochrome or black and white if you so prefer!

Now, black is a colour I wear a lot of, although I am branching out into other colours and snazzy patterns, but white isn't a colour I wear a lot of, maybe the odd summer cardigan or loose linen trousers but in general I steer well clear. White does my lady lumps and bumps no favours I'm afraid. Together though black and white is such a statement and monochrome is very on trend right now.

This week I didn't even have to think about what I would wear. There is one item in my wardrobe that is pure monochrome loveliness. This outfit is a tad similar to last week's but I couldn't not wear this skirt so please forgive me?!
Curvy / Plus size outfit -Monochrome - Primark skirt
Black shrug - Wallis
Basic black top-New Look
Skirt-Primark
Black Tights- Yours Clothing
Shoes- Leather ballet flats from New Look with bow detail
Monochrome skirt Primark - Curvy plus size outfit
The star of the outfit is  obviously the skirt. This was from Primark. It has a black underskirt with the more sheer fabric and print over the top. It's very flowy (not so great on a windy day!) but I love the bold print. I think it was around £8 which is amazing value.
Revlon Enchanting nail polish varnish and Revlon Candy Apple Lip Butter Red lipstick

Jewelry wise I wore big stud pearl earrings and a long length necklace in a mesh leaf design. For make up I went for my MaxFactor powder foundation (I hate liquid foundation!), concealer, and my usual champagne cream eye shadow from Benefit, lots of mascara and eyeliner. I then added red lipstick to give some colour injection to the look which I think is important. This one is  Revlon Lip butter in Candy Apple which is one I highly recommend for anyone scared of red lipstick. It is mega easy to apply and wear and looks so nice on. It's on the more orange scale of red and has a lovely shine to it. I love it and wear it a lot. The nail varnish was the colour injection. This one is by Revlon in 'Enchanting' and is a lilac with a hint of pink when it catches the light. (Sorry for the hair in this photo - it was windy but I wanted to show the lipstick and nail colours!)

I love this look. It's classic but the skirt makes a statement. It's super easy to wear, very comfortable, flattering and fab value.

Do you like the skirt? What do you think of the monochrome trend? Leave me a comment and let me know.

Don't forget to go and check out the other ladies in this blog series. They are gorgeous women and their blogs are fab!

Blog Series - Curves around the World - Curvy Plus size Outfits - WEEK #9 DATE NIGHT

Curvy / Plus size outfit / Primark shrug cover up / Floral Daisy print dress
It's time for this week's post. As you can see, the theme is 'Date Night'. If I think of a date, I think girly, flowy, cute, simple/nothing crazy, yet comfortable. There is nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable or pulling at your clothes if you aren't 100% or you feel something doesn't sit right.
Curvy / Plus size outfit of the night / George at Asda floral print dress
This outfit it comfortable and fits the cute girly idea I think of on a date with the daisy print and flowy skirt of the dress. I added a sheer black shrug (Primark £10ish) which makes the dress smarter. The shrug is actually a size 8 ( say whaaaat.....I know right?!) but that just shows try things on! It fits me perfectly. The dress was £14 from George @ Asda of all places (definitely worth a look  as you can find some fab items sometimes and you can always scout online before you go). I added a black belt, black leggings as the dress is short and leather ballet flats which have a little bow at the front. Bag wise, I used a simple black envelope clutch.
Heart faceted long necklace / Daisy Print Dress

You can see here how cute the daisy print is. Love the addition of the yellow which is a colour I never wear. I also love this necklace. I wear it all the time and with the heart, it definitely fits with the date night theme. I also find long necklaces elongate your body and are very flattering as they draw the eye down and length ways.
Pretty silver earrings

Revlon ' Enchanting 220 ' Nail Polish / Varnish and face of the day coral lip gloss
Apologies my face was melting due to the heat wave in England, but I wanted to show you my makeup and nails. Make up wise I kept it simple with a powder foundation base, concealer, a touch of bronzer and blush to add some warmth, and a coral lipgloss. For eyes I used a champagne cream eye shadow, a touch of brown eyeliner on the top, black eyeliner in the waterline, a light eyeshadow in the corners of the eye to brighten, and lashings of mascara for those all important flirty fluttery eyelashes.

Blog Series - Curves around the World - Curvy Plus size Outfits - WEEK #8 Celebrity Inspired

Phew this week has gone fast! I hope everyone is enjoying the heatwave? 33 degrees celcius is a tad hot me thinks. What's going on England?!

Anyway, it is that time again and this week the theme is 'celebrity inspired'.

My first thought was Adele as I love that girl but her awards style outfits are usually floor length black of sparkly black gowns none of which I have hanging around my house. Her 'off day' style is mostly photographed as leggings and a big woolly cardigan with a messy bun. Not the most exciting and a big woolly cardigan in 33 degree heat?! Not so much!

So another thought I had was Khloe Kardashian Odom. Clearly I do not have a crazy celebrity lifestyle and I definitely don't look like Khloe (although I do want my hair ombre/ dip dyed asap!) but  I really like her style and like the fact she glams up but also has her casual days wearing jeans, cardigans and comfortable clothes.

Researching more into Khloe's style I noticed a few things repeated. Wavy big hair, bold red lipstick, lots of eyeliner, lashings of mascara and always perfectly polished nails, big sunglasses, big earrings (often silver hoops), animal print, black jackets, giant handbags, and lots of black clothing. Khloe also often accents a chic all black look with small bits of colour and print eg a red lip, colourful handbag or scarf or vibrant nails.
Khloe Kardashian Celebrity Inspired  - curvy outfit - black jeggings - big handbag
Clothing/shoes wise I went for a black jacket (George @ Asda), plain black vest top (New Look), black skinny jeans (Matalan) and blush coloured sandals with bow and sparkle detail (Debenhams).

Accessories wise I added big black sunglasses with gold arm detail (Accessorize), an animal print scarf (Primark) and this:
Boccia black watch
silver hoops bought in Spain
Mustard yellow statement ring to add a pop of colour

Modalu large Bibi bag in 'Shark'
Make up and hair wise, I did my hair wavy although it was a tad windswept in the photos! I did a bold red lip, bronze shimmery eyeshadow, lots of black eyeliner and lashings of mascara.
Face of the day silver hoops, smokey eye, red lip
Rimmel London Salon Pro Lycra Nail Polish / Varnish - 237 Soul Session -  Nude
I absolutely love this nail varnish. It is so simple and chic and looks fab with any outfit. (Full review coming soon!).
curvy / plus size outfit of the day / black / animal print / red lipstick
Overall, I love this look and to be honest it's similar to my own style. I love a basic black outfit and adding in pops of colour. I think its chic and timeless and would suit everyone! Plus its easy to do.

Blog Series - Curves around the World - Curvy Plus size Outfits - WEEK #7 DENIM

It's Wednesday, and what does that mean>?! All together now......CURVES AROUND THE WORLD!

Yep, that's right. It's that time again. This week the theme is:
   * DENIM*
So, firstly I should say that my photos this week didn't work out so, I'm making it work with what I have and also using older photographs. That means my ideas have changed. So this week I'm going to show you more than one way I wear denim.

First up, the good old denim skirt.
New Look denim skirt outfit of the day plus size / curvy
This photo was taken when I was living abroad so it was quite a warm night. The denim skirt I bought for something crazy like £3 in the sale from New Look a few years ago. I love wearing it with leggings. I think its an easy cute look and can be worn in summer with sandals or winter with boots. The outfit above was for drinks with a friend. It's quite versatile. I'm wearing my favourite top-purple with animal print. The photo doesn't do it justice but it will definitely feature properly on this blog at some point.

Next up, trusty jeans. Now I have 2 styles I wear a lot. (I also thirdly love flared jeans but currently don't have any in my wardrobe).

Firstly, the boot cut variety (a pear shape girls best friend as they are flattering and even out the child bearing hips!)
Boot cut jeans - curvy / plus size outfit of the day casual travelling
A picture from my travels in Spain. I am wearing sexy trainers you may notice. Well a girls got to be comfortable whilst sightseeing right!? Boot cut jeans really are my go to jeans. They are the most flattering cut for my big old hips and they skim over the legs. A dark wash is also a must to be ultra flattering.
skinny jeans / jessings - Matalan - outfit of the day - casual
Last up, the skinny jean / jeggings. Now I resisted these for a long time. I always thought you had to have the perfect legs but then I tried some on and actually got converted. I have a black pair too but I'm saving those for a later post.  The fit is exactly the same as these though. They definitely aren't as flattering as boot cut but as long as you wear a slightly longer top I think they look nice. Again I go for a dark wash as its more flattering.

The thing with jeans that I love the most is that they can be dressed up or dressed down. You can wear them out for drinks, for a date or to the supermarket and change up your top, shoes or accessories. I nearly always go for a dark wash as they are the most flattering and also they are the smartest colour. Lighter wash jeans look more casual. Overall, I wear jeans a lot and really think they are a staple item.

I'm actually on the hunt to add to my denim wardrobe. I'd like a light denim jacket to go with maxi dresses but I have resisted as I don't think I would wear it enough. I had one years ago and didn't wear it much but then my style has changed. I'm thinking in the sales there may be one for a bargain price.  I am  also on the lookout for a denim dress/tunic to wear over leggings. I tried this one below in Primark but it was waaaay too short!

No.7 Night Cream for Normal to Oily Skin Review

Those of you who have read my previous post about the Origins ( read that here ) Night cream know that I wasn't one for night creams before but I got converted. I first bought it for a long haul flight as I wanted a good long lasting moisturiser that was brightening and refreshing. I had heard great things about it so went to try it at the counter and never looked back! I think as I got into blogging more where everyone talks about beauty and skincare, I realised the importance of looking after my skin more, especially as I get older and really needed to use a good moisturiser at night. I like night cream as I also realised that I am often in a rush getting ready in the mornings and sometimes forget my day moisturiser (I know that's bad but it's true!) whereas at night I have more time and I'm more chilled out. I also find a little routine helps you to relax when its bed time and gets you winding down for quiet time. The Origins night cream has been in my routine ever since I first used it (I do forget on the occassional nights but mostly I remember!). However....

Recently it came time to re purchase and honestly I didn't want to pay the £34 price tag again so started looking for alternatives. I was at Boots and got the £5 off skincare voucher and thought hmmm I wonder what the No.7 range is like so started investigating and this is what I came up with:
No.7 Beautiful Skin Night Cream - Normal to Oily Skin - Review
So, after having a look around and reading the reviews, I bought the No.7 Beautiful Skin Night Cream for normal to oily skin. It retails for £13.50 for 50ml but I paid £8.50 with the No.7 £5 off voucher which I think is a pretty good deal. You can buy the cream from Boots here .
No.7 Beautiful Skin Night Cream - Normal to Oily Skin- review - very good night cream
I love the packaging. The jar is expensive looking with sturdy a sturdy, thick base and edges and it has a screw top lid. I love the white and mint green colour combo too. I don't think it would be great for travelling as it's quite heavy, but the jar isn't that big and you could always put a bit in another little pot-that doesn't put me off.
It's a very thick almost gel like white cream. It absorbs very quickly which I really like. I hate it when creams take ages to sink in or they are greasy.  It's light but very moisturising. It's also cool and refreshing which I love. I can definitely feel my skin is softer and smoother in the morning and is also brighter. I can definitely tell when I havn't used it.

As much as I really like this, it hasn't beaten the Origins Night cream but for now I'm converted. I won't be paying the extra for the time being as I think the No.7 is a really lovely cream and does the job well and frankly the extra money isn't justifiable.

What are your favourite night creams? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Blog Series - Curves around the World - Curvy Plus size Outfits - WEEK #6 COLOUR/COLOUR BLOCKING

This week calls for colour. Now I know colour can be a tad scary -yes I'm guilty of not wearing enough colour, but we all need to go a bit out of our comfort zones every so often right?

So here it goes!
Curvy / Plus size outfit of the day - summer / /colour/ colour blocking / jeans / Matalan
This coral top is pure cotton so very cool on a warmer day. The jeggings are comfy and casual but could be dressed up. Both were £16 from Matalan. Bargains!
Accessories wise I kept things simple with silver hoops. I wore nude flat sandals to keep things focussed on the clothing. Ideally I would have added colourful shoes and bag.
Cargo Lip gloss in Bourbon St and Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait
Yep, I matched my lip colour to the top. What do you think? I love the colour :)

I do love colour. It makes you feel bright, happy, summery and fun. Having said that I usually add it in more subtle ways. I don't think I'm a total convert to colour blocking but the challenge was fun. If I could I would have chosen a top and cardigan combo in clashing colours to make it really colour blocky (that's not a word!) or maybe more colourful shoes and a colourful bag as I previously said, but I'm happy with what I came up with. Its definitely bright and fits the brief. Bright blue and orange aren't colours you'd usually put together, that's for sure! This outfit makes me feel VERY summery. Now we just need to find the sunshine as it keeps disappearing in England!

I challenge you all to go to your wardrobes and wear colour this week! Leave me a comment and let me know your what you choose and your most colourful clothing!

Don't forget to check out the other ladies in this blog series. They are gorgeous ladies with fab blogs and we all have different styles and different shops in each country so check them out to see the differences :)
