Blog Series - Curves around the World - Curvy Plus size Outfits - WEEK #33 Bombshell Look

Marilyn Monroe

When I think of the 'bombshell'and the 'pin up' look I think glamour, femininity, subtle sex appeal, Marilyn Monroe, Dita Von Teese and the vintage look. Make up wise it means black flicked out liner and red lipstick. This look needs an ultra feminine, pretty, subtlety sexy dress (preferably velvet or lace). Now I have nothing in my wardrobe suitable and really wanted to show an outfit true to the style.
The outfit:

The only thing I would change with this is I would have made the dress red but I couldn't find one. I would have also loved velvet. However I like this dress and the overall look.  The lace is pretty and girly and it has gorgeous detail extras. The off the shoulders detail, sheer arms and v neck are sexy but subtley so and the style really shows off those womanly curves. This dress is classy, ultra pretty and feminine and really fits the bill for the theme.  I love it.

I decided on nude heels to stick with the classy theme and I wanted the focus to be on the dress and make up. The drop earrings are really pretty but simple. They pick up the gold in the clutch and go well with the heels. The fact they are a drop style is again sexy as it points to the neck and is more feminine and fluid than studs.

I've never done this vintage look with my hair but I totally want to try it! Porcelain pale fresh skin (I love this, being a pale skin girl myself. We all know I am a fan of natural skin and no orange fake tan-ness!), black liner flicked out and red lipstick is classic vintage bombshell. So gorgeous and classy and pretty simple to do. Flawless!

Blog Series - Curves around the World - Curvy Plus size Outfits - WEEK #32 GRUNGE

This week's theme is very similar to a previous one- 'rock chick' (see photos below or click the link to see in detail). My outfit, hair and make up fitted the theme well and I really liked the look and how it turned out.
As I knew I had showed the make up look in detail, the hair I would do and an outfit in similar style, for this week I decided to show a similar look and keeping some elements pretty similar. It's important to be able to wear your core items of clothing in different ways and to change up the look with accessories. Most things are pieces we all have in our wardrobes and I like doing looks you can recreate and take inspiration from that are wearable and accessible to buy the pieces.

Blog Series - Curves around the World - Curvy Plus size Outfits - WEEK #31 DIY

Hello my lovely ladies! How is 2014 treating you so far.....well I hope!
This post may be late, but better late than never. This week the theme is a little different and I decided to put my own spin on it.....
DIY clothing adjustment customising plus size and curvy outfits 2014

D.I.Y is the theme this week. I'm not one for doing is myself on clothes to be honest. My Mum and my Grandma were both very thrifty and really good at sewing. I have fond memories of making my dolls clothes with my Mum when I was a child. Now I'm all grown up though, to be honest, I just find I can't be bothered with the time and don't really do more than the off button or little fix here and there.

However I bought this dress with an idea in mind. To add a little spin I am turning this over to you this week and need your opinions. I love this dress and it was a total bargain. I have worn it with leggings but to be honest it is a tad too short. Now, it's not obscene, I have worn it out a few times and it covers all the junk in my trunk and a little more but it's still shorter than I would prefer. When I bought it, I knew I could wear it as it was but that I would wear it more and love it more if it was longer.

So here is my idea.... I am thinking of adding to the bottom to make it longer. You may be asking what opinion I need.....my question to you is what colour fabric should I add. I could add a tartan and try the match the top, or I could try to match the denim or add a darker denim or alternatively I could add either red or navy or one of the colours in the tartan. Maybe you think it's nice as it is and I shouldn't change a thing. I'm throwing this over to you so let me know in the comments what your thoughts are! Once I have done the adjustment I will be sure to show you the finished product!  Here are a couple of photos with the dress on so you can see the fit......

Happy New Year!

2014
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I love fireworks any time of year but London does it amazingly at New Year. The landmarks are so iconic and beautiful and that makes the fireworks even better!

I hope you all had a fab Christmas and a great New Year's Eve. 2013 was a so so year for me (I can't complain....things just didn't really happen for me but it wasn't too bad) but let's just say 2014 things need to move forward for me and I have some big plans :)
